Epiphone DR 100
The Epiphone DR 100 is the most popular guitar in the complete range of Epiphone Acoustic Guitars. DR-100 top or face is made of ‘select spruce wood’ which in plain language means laminated wood or plywood. Neck, back and sides are made of Mahogany wood. Intonation of this guitar is quite good and sound has a confident and definite ring to it. Finishing is also good. There are no electronic pick-up or tuner installed, but still this guitar is value for money mainly due to its good quality rosewood fingerboard.
It is very advisable to keep this guitar out of reach of moisture. Since in presence of moisture, the glued plywood face looses its strength as it becomes hydrated. When not in tune, keep the DR 100 un-tuned with lowest tension on strings. It is also good to use guitar stands.

I have also embedded a video of this guitar for your convenience. You can make a decision based on the sound quality and also the pros and cons I have listed below.
Epiphone DR 100 Pros & Cons
- High quality and smooth fretboard with adjustable action. Best for beginners. This results in a good overall sound quality.
- Simplistic design with good finishing. 14 degree bent headstock ensures proper working of tuning pegs.
- Wood quality and pasting quality, mainly on the face or top of the guitar is poor. This can be seen in rainy season when pasting seems to get hydrated.
- Despite all design considerations, there seems to be some tuning issues initially. Later, as the guitar gets older, it gets better and better.
